Why is MoS so Bad

Marines with 8 attack and 7 hit points should be as effective as tanks with 8 attack and 7 hit points, no?

Its bad cause theres not enough attributes to it you get stronger marines and stealths but not as good as GW which gives you cheap marines AND stronger militia which is more usefull

I'm just saying when I attack equal strength targets with the same amount of toughened tanks or toughened marines, the marines always crap out.

Okay, let's get one thing straight: MoS is not a bad strat. It only seems bad because you don't have the marine upgrades, which make them have more range, +1 ARB, and cheaper. Once you have those, and maybe faster and +1 capacity submarines, MoS is BEAST. So don't call it crap until you actually have played someone who's good with it. example: iron fist was considered pure crap (and it still is outside europe), until a few people, mainly aristosseur figured out that it was good(but only in euro 5k austria). Just because you don't play well with it doesn't mean it's crap. deal with it.

Actually, MoS is subpar

I'm convinced it has to do with the coding. Again, I can attack targets with tanks and have no problems. When I attack targets with marines, they always take excessive casualties and sometimes fail.

I did because I learned about it(from rushka) the same day ironail did, and we both tried it - In fact I got Iron fist as my favorite strat before ironail; He was mad jelly[citation needed].

I have noticed that marines do die very quickly. They 1 less defense than tanks, so that is why they die quicker. I still beleive that mechanics and not fully understood by most people I think it is as follows my units use attack roll vs vs enemy defense, then enemy attack is used vs your defense, that is why they die so much, I think they should get 1 more hp, in MoS or +1 defense in MoS, or both, they are very expensive and they do die too quickly.

I don't think it works this way. I really wish Amok would one day take a moment to make it perfectly clear how the system works.

Amok or Ivan can correct me but I think from what they have said before that sonyhax description of how battle works is only true if two stacks both are told to attack each other-then it alternates attack and defense for each side. Thus every other round the marines poor def owns them.

But if your troops just go attack stationary units(I.e. The player hasn't also given those units orders to attack you) I think it is only your atk vs their def stats in every round.

If I am right then marines prob don't suffer too much from low def because usually they attack from stealth. But maybe I also misunderstand the battle mechanics.

Yeah, I think where they really get f'ed over is when you are taking a neutral city and so is an enemy player, then they get to use their attack vs your defense - ie your marines are dead.
