Why is everyone so toxic nowadays?

Back in 2014 most people were much nicer and friendly about competitive games. Sure some were assholes, but today it seems like almost everyone is being toxic in game chat.

There have been no complaints from any coalition except yours and PB, and it's not over fair play but personal hate. And it's not even by all members of both coalitions. It's barely a few.
The facts speak against you both, i.e. members of both coalitions were punished for misbehavior in game (flaming, spamming, insulting, pilloring), while not a single person from mine was. You do not have any right to call me out publicly, let alone without any facts to back your claims up.

Definitely one of the least creative guys on AtWar, he doesn't even bother to change his messages so I can just repeat my last response.

You said competitive games in 2014, so i can't comment on that, around that time i fully switched to scenarios. Not many toxicity here, idk about cws, just enforce your banlist, find a clan that share common interest and game will become alot better for you

Sure, being able to ban is good, but that's just an improval of mechanics, not really what I meant.

It allowed for people to be toxic and get away with it basically scot-free, which means more people could do it with no consequence other than people e-listing them but with people constantly name changing and shit u never know who is who so you can easily forget that a person does that type of stuff.
If anything that allowed for easier toxicity I mean people used to join literally just to leave a game but that's not as rampant now because namechanging won't save you as the ban is linked to your account ID

But that's beside the point, the point i'm trying to say is that the game was much more friendly and nicer is very much, untrue.

So, what we are left with is a community filled with people like Wheelo, njab, Andartes, Kaska, Tengri, Laochra, Trystane, Witch-Doctor, Sid, and Garde*. Toxicity cannot be cured, it needs removed root and stem. Either Dave bans these people, or atwar will die.

People were probably equally bad back then; we simply don't remember the toxicity back then. Today's atwar is toxic though. Probably due to lax moderation for years, and toleration of rude and offensive behavior.

People were probably equally bad back then; we simply don't remember the toxicity back then. Today's atwar is toxic though. Probably due to lax moderation for years, and toleration of rude and offensive behavior.

I was there, same amount of toxic assholes, just alot less good folks around here to just enjoy the game and ignore those ass hats.

Tirpitz is right this time... their were outliers of toxicity that were equally as bad, but toxic players spammed admin accounts saying they were being brutally oppressed, and since those admin didn't spend a lot of time on the forums, they thought maybe mods were being over-zealous, and expressly informed mods not to remove (toxic) posts as they could be perceived as 'censorship'. Over time the forums then became a breeding ground for toxicity, and fewer players frequented the forum to make meaningful contributions, whereas the toxic players found an outlet where they could say almost anything. In the two years prior to Dave's arrival, about 90% of forum posts were 'toxic' themed, and nearly all of that could be summarized as 'balkan flame war', 'veiled personal attack', 'mods are corrupt' or 'hi, i'm Nero'.

Since Dave has encouraged mods to support the AW rules and respond to toxicity, the majority of threads are now 'non-toxic' (though there are still a lot of 'borderline' threads - but even players like DeepFriedUnicorn aren't spamming like before). That has come with a lot of complaints about 'boredom' etc, and some of our toxic players have moved on. Overall though, it's a lot less mind numbing as some of the 'intelligent' toxic posters from before have gotten creative and upped their game, and now are making threads that are more edgy and humourous.

I've noticed that nowadays people for some reason have such huge egos and constantly talk down on other people. This happened before but it's like now everyone is doing it. It's okay to be confident in your skills and your gameplay but the competitive scene is honestly just toxic and filled with a lot of angry arrogant people.

The community would be much better if everyone was just humble and played for fun and acknowledged other people's good skills instead of constantly trying to outdo each other, call out each other, belittle each other, brag about elo or winning a duel, etc.

Maybe one day...

Every competitive player except Eagle, Lelouch, Crow, Same and Don, is toxic and ruins the good relations built in this game by having 'huge egos'.

The rest of us toxic players have been using the same expressions such as 'rape/d', 'duel dodger/s', 'XAXAXAXAXAXA', 'you suck', 'noob', 'zzzzzzzzz', 'D', 'I raped X player Y times in row', 'X player is dodging', 'eww low elo', 'if it werent for that tb I would have one fucking lucky bitch', 'op rolls/tb', etc and etc. All of these have turned into a cliche and nobody really wants to see this shit anymore, especially from the new players. As long as we keep doing this, things wont change
