I wanted to make this thread as more of an opinion on my own beliefs, but I thought it would be pretty fun if everyone shared their opinions or personal theories on life in a friendly environment. What I mean is, spread your ideas, inventions, your outlooks on life, ways you think the world may work etc, anything that you've been pondering lately that you'd like to share.

Rules:

1. No arguments, no trolling/flaming etc.
2. No copy/paste off of BBC or Wikipedia.
3. No "Marshmallows are mostly water, and Humans are mostly water, so therefore, we are Marshmallow".

If any of these rules are broken, I will unhook Lowsky's chain and sick him on you.

I'll start:

I've recently been thinking about how the mind must work, and I remembered reading an article about how the mind creates thought by bringing to similar terms or ideas together. I wasn't exactly sure how this process worked, so I was sure it would have to be something with Waves, which made me think "Maybe all the Brain is, is a Translator?". Could the Brain just be a translator for these Waves? Would this explain how Out-of-body experiences and beyond work? When your body dies off, do these waves just leave; are they your real personality and data cloud, and your physical body is just a vehicle for it? These were the questions I asked myself, but I need to study more on the Brain and the way thoughts work before I can make a legitimate statement about it. I don't know much about the Brain itself, and I could be completely wrong here, but as this thread is for, spread whatever is on your mind so other people can correct you/agree with you/etc.

There's nothing magical to the brain, it's a bunch of electric impulses that make you work. We die and leave nothing behind, except for a body that still grows hair, fingernails and farts from time to time. Out-of-body experiences are only in the movies, or may occur when you eat dem mushrooms and think yourself to be an orange anyways. Why do people in these progressive times even believe in that shit? Also, don't take this as a flame or so, it's just how I talk. I'm sure you're already aware.

Well, I chose to believe in something after Death, merely because it's not logical to turn something into nothing, the something in this case being the Data stored inside of you that makes you, you. I wouldn't think it's logical to turn something into nothing. Anyways, I watched this today as well: Link

"Life after death" is just a stupid dream, as the typical human, you have fear to death. Life is just a step back of immortality.
why the human eventually die? well, if wasn't because the imminent internal failure of all your organs....

maybe we can make cells that re-generate the internal body and we all turn into immortals D:

On topic, my personal belief is that this is life after death, like what Gardy said, you can't just make something disappear. Everything goes somewhere.

That's one reason I thought that there has to be something after Death. My first thought would be that the Data Cloud stored in your mind would just release like a Jellyfish floating around, but further thought made me think that your Data Cloud would most likely re-create your physical body in a non-physical so that it still had purpose, which could be us right now if you think about it. Everyone has their own set of Data, for instance, yours could be blue and mine green, and there would be no other data in existence that is the same as ours, hence why it could never dissipate into nothing; it would serve no purpose. So logically, your Data will always stay as it is right now, as it can never have anything to do other than stay together and work as a machine. It's like taking a gear that only works in one machine, and throwing it in the river. It will just sit there, forever. But, if Data works in a similar manner, the Universe would be cluttered with it if it just floated freely, hence why it would stay together in a way.

"Destroyed"? That's a highly unsophisticated way of putting it, as your brain decays and is broken down, not "destroyed" in that sense. However, the Data stored in your brain isn't decayed in this theory, I see no reason why it has to. Think of your brain as a bubble, and the knowledge as smaller bubbles. Once the encasing bubble pops, the rest float away together without the bigger one holding them back. There's also the theory that a specific chemical is released at the moment of your death that slows time down to the point that you relive your entire life over and over again for eternity. Don't be afraid of it, as you would never realize that you're re-living it.

Information in the brain is stored as a series of electrical signals traveling between neurons through synapses. The electricity is created by exchanges of negatively charged potassium ions and positively charged sodium ions. When the cells in your brain die they can't open their "gates" to allow the exchange of ions anymore so all of the information in your brain ceases to exist. The dead cells are then decayed by bacteria and are absorbed into plants and then repurposed for whatever those organisms need them for.

First of all, let's just continue this fight on Reddit on r/Atheism.Second,I agree here with Gardy, the sophisticated person I am was watching the Science Channel(could not find source) to find out that SOMETHING does in fact leave our bodies(not that post-death shit we take),something of an essence of data that leaves are bodies and survives(scientists believe this to be a soul). Before you criticize and attempt to disprove my opinion, know that the program I watched was quite scientific and somewhat easy to understand. Here is basically what I learned:

1)Most of the human genome has yet to be mapped, part of this can possibly be the essence of a soul.
2)When we die, this essence(I remember it had something to do with quantum science) leaves our bodies and escape somewhere(what many religions consider Heaven).
3)If the life is brought back, the essence too will return(don't ask me how,I'll try to find he source),this explains out of body experiences.

I will try and find the source and theory for this.

Some of you said, "you can't make something into nothing" I could understand such a statement in a theoretical standpoint considering there has to be something after death, for instance. Also, the complete absence of life seems particularly unthinkable for me, and I'm sure others feel the same way as I do. However in terms of logic, "you can't make something into nothing" doesn't make any sense simply because your brain is dead as explained by learster and counterpart. If an animal dies, is it still around? Possibly in a dimension or way of life we don't see yet? Those are things us humans aren't made to understand. When an animal or a human dies, they're dead. That is all. However, I'm not one to think that way and I really hope there's something after death. But yet again that's my conjecture, not the one of current logical understanding or proven scientific facts.

Information is a series of electrical pulses in between neurons converted from chemical energy. When you die the electrical process stops and there is nothing but the original chemical energy left. If you do not think it is possible then consider the fact that your heart beat is regulated by electricity as well. When you die your heart stops because the electricity is gone.

I could see where you are coming from. You seem to be basing your concept off of the ideas of the "Laws of conservation of matter" and the "Laws of conservation of energy". The laws of conservation of energy say that there is a given amount of energy in the world and that this energy cannot be created or destroyed but it can be converted.

The energy you use to move your arms while clapping your hands is converted into sound and kinetic energy. The chemical energy in your body is used to fuel bacteria and whatever else is eating your rotten corpse.

I don't think the universe is so kind that it would defy it's own fundamental laws just so we can stop fearing death. The things that make up our thoughts are broken down and repurposed just like everything else on this planet. I doubt we'll ever come to an agreement on this so I'll just say "to each his own" and move on to the next subject haha.

Well, I was thinking: The reason they say he's bad is because he told Adam and Steve to eat from a tree that let them determine what's good and what's evil, right? God didn't like that...not because Adam and Steve became evil, but because they rebelled. In this theory, "God" is a dictator, and Satan is a revolutionary. God is tyrranical, and Adam and Steve are Rebels. The fruit they ate from the tree give them the power of Free will, which is something Humans have; therfore, I feel like if there was a God and Satan, They should switch roles in our eyes, or else we would all be sheep. Also, I would think that "God" wants everyone to be mindless sheep so they don't try and seek out their own destiny and he loses his power. Look at the church, they all act, dress, and talk the same. They refuse to believe anything else without $$$ or little boys involved. Therefore, it's all about who has the power: One dictator, or everyone having their own fair share. Now, call this "communism", but giving the power to the people in healthy doses (moderation) leads to greatness, known as consumerism. Look at History before 1600, it was always a power struggle, average IQ was 70 and below, etc. In modern history, the people have garnered the power, and Consumerism has come out of it. What is consumerism? It's the act of feeling as though you have control over your own life in a form you can purchase and gift: It's all about being a free spirit. When everyone has a chance to read on their iPad on the subway, or drive a car, or fly in a plane, rather than be bossed around by some King or Deity, people are happier, and people are smarter; people nowadays are extrememly intelligent (it may not seem like it with most, but that's because people with slightly-above average IQ's tend to think of plebians as...well, plebians) and happy with their lives. Consumerism is starting to slow though, as Corporations are replacing churches as ways of controlling power: You don't follow a God anymore, you now follow a Brand name. People fight over Mac v PC, or Xbox v Playstation, just like people fought Allah v God, or Shinto v Buddist. I think our next great step will be the step into destroying the status quo, and acquiring a system of destiny into our culture, where everyone is valued and can enjoy life in the form they want to. In other words, Utopia."

Damn, if anyone even utters the world "Religion", you guys jump on it, huh? I was using it to start up my statement backing Howard Bloom's opinion.

Today's random rabble I came up with on FB and /pol/:

"So I was thinking, you know how Christians always make their God out to be the good guy, and Satan to be the bad guy?
