To be fair, places like Lebanon and Jordan are like 20% refugees now. The native population of the UAE is basically nothing - that entire country is made of immigrants. I see your point, but it's not only Europe taking blows here.

Jordan and Lebanon both sounds like highly liberal and open-minded countries, by Middle Eastern standards. Or so my Lebanese friend tells me.

It's a very nice gesture that European countries have taken a million refugees in to try and solve the Syrian crisis, but I think it's time for the idealist northwestern Europe to admit that this problem is just too big for them to fix.

Europe is attempting the impossible. If Europe can absorb millions of refugees, then life will be much better. But they can't. Countries like Sweden really should stop trying what can't be done.

In fact, you are right.
Forcing that liberalism too much will kill Sweden, which is one of the best organised countries in Europe. Same thing for Germany and other who are accepting then.
Respect for Slovakia that officially said they are against and that they wont accepet any single one.

Immigration is pretty complexed case. It is not only can some country absorb certain number of refugees, we have to look what can be ,manifestly or latently, caused by immigration in negative way, also on possible and very possible problems.

I am not in mood of making big comment, but there is only one banal reason for accepting them - helping others
And there are plenty of against accepting.

All those problems will be expressed in near future after they inhabit Europe permanently, rememer what i am telling you.

America is created by immigrants, beside modern era and future will be marked by free movement and migration of people. Thats nothing wrong and if European country cannot absorb immigrants that mean something they do wrong in their countrys system.

Germany even invite immigrants to settle in Germany because Germany created large and rich economy and need maintaining, that is done with large number of workers while Germany only have 40 million available. Immigrants are cheap labor which make products cheaper which make Germany more competitive on Global Market. Everyone win (in Germany). I disagree with you a little here. The European countries shouldn't try the impossible, but they should continue to make the effort to take in and integrate however much they can. Sweden is a rich country of 9 million people. They can definitely handle 9,000 a year. If they invest a bit more in social programs, maybe even double or triple that. Larger countries with stronger cultural norms, like France, can easily take in tens of thousands a year.
