This is my take on the game, you can take some and leave some.
You win with perfect TBs, Rushes, T1 Expansions, late-moves, and walls. Rushes, Expansions and Walls will be handled in this post
Strategies that could be used (in order of usability): IF, PD, RA, NC, and GW
IF is best, because all the units really have OP range, so this strat is 10/10. With IF only put minimum number of troops needed on a country when attacking. Example, City has 28 defense, you only need 28 attack to take. The chance of take is 85%. In this guide all references are referred as if played in IF.

I am going to go through each one of the major countries and exposition the countries.

Note: Never attack with Infantry First turn (ie attacking North Carth, or Latium), you don't need money the next turn, you need troops. For all countries; attack at least 4 cities. On T1, only build you Special Unit.



Macedonia:
Mace is the most powerful pick. It has the "Macedonian Phalanx" with 10 Attack, 10 Defense, 5 Critical, and 12 Hits Points.
Mace has access to; Sparta, Athens, South Italy, Rhodes, Turkey, and Surrounding Countries.
Mace has 14 (Capital 8, other City (Port) 4) reinforcements first turn. You should rarely stack T1, and always make at least 4 attacks with Mace, the more the better.

Carthage:
Carth is a very powerful pick. It has the "Carthaginian War Elephants" with 10 Attack, 8 Defense, 5 Critical, 12 Hit Points.
Carth has access to; Most North Africa (Not Egypt Area), All Italy, All Greece, and France.
Carth has 7 reinforcements first turn. It is best to expand heavy in Carth (Not North Carth Ever T1 (Infantry are there)) taking Immediate countries surrounding. Just make sure you get the South Carthage Port, you need it for turn 2.

Sparta:
Sparta is an excellent place to pick, especially in 1v1 with Mace. It has the "Spartan Hopilite" with 10 Attack, 10 Defense, 5 Critical, and 12 Hit Points.
Sparta has access to all Italy, South Carthage, North Africa, Egypt, Syria, All Turkey, Rhodes, and North of Mace.
Sparta has 9 Reinforcements first turn. It is good to expand into Italy, and wall Athens. Walling Athens is extremely strategic, because if your opponent happens to rush it, you will have all his troops captive turn 2.

Campania:
Camp is a good pick to combat mace. It has the "Roman Legionaries"
With 10 Attack, 8 Defense, 5 Critical, and 12 Hit Points.
Camp has access to Carthage, Italy, Greece, and South France.
Camp has 8 reinforcements the first turn. Because of it's weak special unit, you have to avoid being rushed. North Italy Is rarely rushed. Don't attack Latium First Turn (Infantry are there). Example 1, your opponent is Mace, expand to Carthage. Example 2, your opponent is Carthage, expand to Mace.

Syria:
Syria is not my best hand of cards to play, but done right it can beat anything. It has the "Armored War Elephant" with 8 Attack, 11 Defense, 5 Critical, and 12 Hit Points.
It has access to basically all Middle East (Not Arabia), Egypt, All turkey, and Rhodes.
Syria has 14 reinforcements first turn. With Syria you want to fully take Judea, Phoenicia and some of south east Turkey First Turn. Turn 2 you want Egypt, It is very rich. When playing make sure you don't forget to expand into the middle east. There is a lot of money there.

Egypt:
Good, but hard to play. High troops, but bankrupt First Turn. Egypt has the
"Chariot Archers" with 10 Attack, 6 Defense, 5 Critical, 9 Hit Points.
Access to Greece, All Turkey, North Africa, Phoenicia, Judea, Syria, and other surrounding territories.
Egypt is hard to play to put it simply, but whatever you do, you can't mess up on turn 1. If you do mess up, it is GG. Usually expansion to Syria, Turkey, Judea, and Phoenicia is played. Rushing you opponent is also something to consider. Smart walls will help Egypt get out of a lot of trouble.

Oops, Sparta only got 8. Camp is good to fight mace though, try it some time.
