World Map 10 years Anniversary [01.01.2020] >>> WORLD MAP REWORK

Hi guys!

The mostly played map on atwar (approximately 1,5 million plays!) called World Map has been created on 1st of January in 2010, by the creators of atwar, namely Ivan & Amok. More than 900 clones, nearly 950 scenarios and over 750 presets have been created on this map until now. Some people may forget this map is fully based on real world (pre-2010), including GDP (incomes) and population (reinforcements), due to it wasn't created manually but with a macro.

All of us can admit that the World Map is regular part of the game, so it's very important to keep it up-to-date time by time. I'm pretty sure there was a couple of topics targeting this question. However, I can't see any determination and seriousness in them.

According to this I've decided to start a great development project, actually the creation of World Map 2.0!

In this thread I wanna see critics, suggestions, requests, new ideas, ambitious players/collaborators and everything that helps us making this done.
Please don't forget to upvote the topic and post your opinion about World Map 2.0!

- please don't troll the polls nor the topic, because I need serious responds to start working on the map
- major changes to the map such as Kosovo, russian Crimea, India & Bangladesh border changes, land-swap between Belgium and the Netherlands, Novorossiyan confederation, etc. cannot be avoided by voting

I don't want to promise anything, but this is something I've been working on and preparing for Dave with collaboration with the staff for many months now. So good thread!

Like I said I can't see any determination in it so I'm here to success in 3 months at most, once enough people have voted and given tips.

The problem is if we go off of the methods they used to determine their incomes and reinforcements then there'd be a lot of unwelcomed changes that take place. For example Germany's income would change to something around 800+ making impossible to pick and play in the 10k comp setting, then you a lot of countries incomes they'd dropped significantly, of course we can toy with this a little to keep things balanced but we have already mostly done that.

In saying that, I do have some ideas that might work and people could enjoy but I'll simply see if that means I can just make it into a map of my own giving people more of a reason to get premium to host games.

The only thing based on the real-world in world map is the borders.

The world is always changing, you know. And this game is (mainly) about the world. Trump has become the new president. Some disliked, while others liked it. You'll be able to play the old world map if you wish, of course... but the point of World Map 2.0 is exactly the change (based on your hints and suggestions!)

A lot of that was changed because of a mixture of balancing and player personal opinions. Did you know Kosovo use to be part of the world map ... xD

True dat Although, new world map can be balanced too...
